Arsenal v Chelsea in Women’s Conti Cup Final – can Arsenal win the Cup a record sixth time? by Michelle
Arsenal Women face Chelsea in the Conti Cup Final on Sunday, at Selhurst Park. Arsenal have won the Conti Cup a record 5 times and will be determined to make it a record 6th time this weekend, particularly after being put out of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup by Chelsea last Sunday..
Arsenal women do have what it takes to beat Chelsea this Sunday in the Continental Cup Final being the better team when they met Chelsea in January 2023 in the WSL. The result was a 1-1 draw after a Sam Kerr goal in the final minutes of the game but Arsenal were dominant throughout. The pair met again last Sunday with Chelsea winning 2-0 over Arsenal, the biggest difference between the two being Chelsea’s clinical finishing versus Arsenal’s lack thereof after losing their front-line scoring duo Beth Mead & Vivianne Miedema.
So this is anyone’s game this weekend. I truly believe Arsenal CAN be the victors here – they have played the better football when facing Chelsea this year to date after all. But it’s not what I think they CAN do – it all comes down to belief within the team at the moment..
Boss Emma Hayes Hayes, told Chelsea.com. “I never talk tactically in press conferences because that’s between me and my team, but I think we made the right adaptations today, and I think we have the mentality of champions.”
Maybe that is the difference between Chelsea and Arsenal right now? If Arsenal can raise their mentality to that of champions then I think they could walk all over Chelsea. The real battle here is believing..
Who do you think will be the Women’s Conti Cup Final victors?
