Highlights Chelsea Women 6-0 Leicester City. The blues move 1 point off WSL top spot by Michelle

Chelsea Women delivered a commanding performance against Leicester City in their recent Women’s Super League match, securing a resounding victory that placed them just one point behind league leaders Manchester United, with a game in hand.

The Blues took an early lead, scoring three goals in the first 32 minutes thanks to Guro Reiten, Erin Cuthbert, and Pernille Harder. Harder, from Denmark, went on to score a second goal just before half-time, further cementing Chelsea’s control of the game. The team continued to dominate in the second half, with Lauren James and Jelena Cankovic each scoring a goal to round off the 6-0 victory.

“I told the team that [being clinical] is something that’s been lacking from us in the first part of the season,” Hayes told Sky Sports.

“We just haven’t converted or created in the same way I know this team can do but we’re doing it now, we’re doing it at the right time of the season. Hopefully that continues for the remainder.”

Chelsea Women are poised to secure their fourth consecutive league title if they can win their remaining three matches, which includes a crucial game against their London rivals Arsenal, who are currently in third place.

Meanwhile, Manchester United, who are currently at the top of the WSL standings, have only two games left to play. The Blues’ recent big wins over Everton (7-0) and Leicester City (6-0), during which they scored a total of 13 goals, has brought them level on goal difference with the league leaders.

In addition to the WSL, both Chelsea and Manchester United will also compete against each other in the FA Cup final on Sunday, as they vie for a double title win.
