Tottenham Hotspur Women 1-5 Arsenal as Gunners keep pace in title race by Michelle

Arsenal maintained their WSL supremacy over north London rivals Tottenham after winning their eighth consecutive north London derby 5-1 with goals from Stina Blackstenius, Caitlin Foord (2), Kim Little and Frida Maanum.

After three league games without a win between January and February, the Gunners have returned to form triumphantly, dispatching Liverpool, Reading and now Spurs in scintillating style – all of which they have achieved after winning the Conti Cup in early March by defeating Chelsea 3-1.. The Gunners are on fire!!

The win briefly lifted Arsenal to 2nd in the WSL but they dropped back to third when Man United beat West Ham to take the lead at the top of the table.

The biggest WSL ‘shock’ of the weekend has to be Man City’s 2-0 win over Chelsea, allowing them to leapfrog Chelsea to take 2nd spot, dropping Chelsea to 3rd and Arsenal to 4th.

Crucially, there are only 3 points separating Man United at the top of the table and 4th place Arsenal.. the WSL title race really is wide open..

Next up for Arsenal is Bayern Munich at Emirates on Wednesday 29th March – can they get to the Champions League semi-finals?
